The NCAA Tournament is ready to carve out its finalists from among the Final Four.

South Carolina, Gonzaga, Oregon and North Carolina are the last teams standing in a March Madness field that started with 68 teams.

There are three games left to determine the 2017 champion, starting with two semifinals on Saturday night.

The first game between South Carolina and Gonzaga features a key matchup between two interior players: 7-foot-1 Przemek Karnowski of Gonzaga and South Carolina’s Maik Kotsar, who stands at 6-10.

Oregon stands in the way of North Carolina’s chance to reach the title game for a second straight year. One key for North Carolina will be the health of point guard Joel Berry II, who has been battling ankle issues but is expected to play.

The winners will play Monday night for the title.

The South Carolina Gamecocks are in the midst of the best run the program has ever seen. They won their first tournament game since 1973 and followed that up by storming their way through the field all the way to its first-ever Final Four appearance.

Head coach Frank Martin has had the team prepared to play with tenacious defense and a physicality unlike any other team in the country.

The Gamecocks force a ton of turnovers and push the ball offensively to make it difficult on the opposing team in transition.

South Carolina is led by senior and SEC player of the year Sindarius Thornwell along with sophomore point guard PJ Dozier. Both can be legitimate first-round draft picks in the 2017 NBA draft if PJ Dozier decides to leave early after this season.

Thornwell has been on an absolute tear during the NCAA tournament averaging over 25 points per game in tournament play. When he signed with Frank Martin’s program after his senior year of high school, Thornwell vowed to put his home state of South Carolina on the map.

Four years later, the Gamecocks are on the verge of possibly being national champions.

Just think if Seventh Woods decided to stay in state and also play for the South Carolina Gamecocks. This team would be even that more dangerous.

Instead, he’s toiling away on the UNC bench when he could’ve been playing a key role for this Gamecocks team and possibly in a starting role.
